RULES OF A REBOUND EXCERPT

Her past was full of fake promises, but the passion she feels now is real…Maybe too real. Strong, protective...and hot, Rome is everything Natalie ever wanted in a man. Is he more than just a rebound?

“How much do I owe you?”
“We can settle up later. Before I forget, here’s your key.” Rome slipped it from his keyring and handed it to her.
Electric like tingles radiated into her palm. Rome sucked in a breath. A long moment passed as they just stared at each other.
He stepped back, breaking the spell. “Guess I should get to work.”
Weshould get to work.” She tucked the key into her front pocket. “I just need to get my toolbox from the garage.”
“See you out back.”
Natalie retrieved her purple toolbox with black trim then joined him on the deck. She sat it next to his nearly identical yellow and black one on the picnic style table situated near the left corner. He’d moved her tarp-covered grill to the far corner on the right.
Rome measured the height and width of the door frame. “The plywood isn’t as wide. We’ll have to nail in two-by-fours to take up the slack.”
She shielded her eyes from the sun with her hand as he pointed to where the two-by-fours would fit. “Makes sense to me. I’ll get started on taking down the broken door.” As she opened the lid to her toolbox, the top tray divided into two. Screwdrivers were lined up on the left side. Wrenches and pliers on the right. In the tray underneath was a hammer, a small hand drill with assorted bits and a digital measuring tape.
Rome peered over her shoulder. “Nice. Very nice.” He’d put on cologne when he’d gone home to change, and his tantalizing sandalwood and citrus scent wafted in breeze.
She faced him. “I showed you mine, now show me yours.”
He quirked a brow. “Sure you can handle it?”
“Would I ask if I couldn’t?”
His deep chuckle was like a wicked caress running over her bare skin. “True.” Eyes never leaving hers he moved closer. Body heat and attraction filled the small space between them.
As he leaned in and reached back, his chest grazed her breasts. “What do you think?”
What did she think? If she sat on the table, they could reenact what happened in the storeroom. But they were talking about toolboxes. Weren’t they?

My Review
I walked into this story with no preconceived thoughts, and I was so glad I did.  I enjoyed this book to the fullest.  The Characters were real with real life situations that truthfully the church needs to start talking about more and take more action.  There might be some emotional triggers for some people, but I truly feel that people will enjoy this book.  There were several key points throughout the story that centered on being yourself and forgiveness.  There were a lot of jaw dropping moments that left me in shock several times.  I cannot wait for the next story in this series.  The author did an amazing job and I enjoyed the story very much.  A wonderful, new, fresh and exciting voice in Christian Fiction readers have been waiting for

17 Annual National Book Club Conference Wrap up

I have several yearly book events I attend.  One of my top 5 events is the National Book Club Conference in Atlanta, GA hosted by author Curtis Bunn.  Now as an introvert I have a special way of dealing with all the people that are in attendance, but it's worth it.

This year, I was able to meet Mr. Walter Mosley, which was just a shocking.  He is so down to earth, like one of your favorite uncles.  I was also able to meet the author of one of the best books I've read this year, Ms. Celeste O. Norfleet.  (There will be another post about my review and feelings about her latest book, One Night in Georgia, as well as information on how you can win an autographed copy of the book).  There were session with veteran authors, as well as new authors.

The Mr. Walter Mosley walking down the Red Carpet

Another person I was really happy to meet was Ms. Ebony Roberts who has a new book out telling her truth (Her son's father is a former Oprah book club author, Writing My Wrongs: Life, Death, and Redemption in an American Prison ( There will be a future review and contest of Ebony's book as well as others.  Stay Tuned)  The Saturday night dinner included an interview with journalist and author Nick Chiles, and the featured author, Damon Young.  We had an after hours party, and I did stay for a little while, but left when a couple of my friends did. (I'm sure those three adult beverages also helped )  Saturday was Men's day, where every author that had a session was an African American man.  I was even able to get some autographed books for my niece.  EyeCU Reading and Social Network won Book Club of the year ( and if you follow them online, you know they truly deserve it.)

Myself with Author Ebony Roberts

Now this event has a lot of people, so as an introvert who can easily get spazzed when overwhelmed, there are a couple of steps I take in order to keep myself sane.  First off (and friends that know me well know what I have to do) is sometimes I need to get away in order to decompress, and that is perfectly ok.  If there's a lot of people in a room and I want to meet the author, I wait back until the line goes down, before I get in line, so that way I'm not getting knocked over.

I had fun attending this year and I plan to attend next year and in future years.
