The 7th Annual Author's Brunch

I had the pleasure of attending one of my favorite events, The Author's Brunch, hosted by DA Rhodes of the Rhodes Literary Group.  And let's just say I had a good time as always.  I was able to connect with several new authors, got some very interesting books and saw old favorites as well.  The featured author was none other than the fabulous Kimberla Lawson Roby.

Not only was there a lot for readers, there was information for authors. Saturday they had a writer's workshop on How to Finish Your Book, and I heard that they learned a lot of information in that session.   They had two financial experts Sunday at the brunch and they gave us a wealth of information.  We were also witness to a conversation with Tanya McKinnon, who is one of the few women of color who has her own literary agency, and also represents New York Times best selling author and who also has a children's book out which looks very interesting.  The authors also had 2 minutes to pitch their book, and there was an elevator pitch contest from some audience members.

The Rhodes Literary Group also gives back.  They have a  yearly scholarship, and this year's recipient was Ms. Kennedy Cook

I enjoyed conversation with a lot of authors, and they gave us a lot of wonderful information in a short amount of time, and if you're able, it's a good event to attend.
