V is for Vicious by Danielle Allen Book Blitz

V IS FOR VICIOUS BY DANIELLE ALLEN

My family was rich with love, but we were broke. So, I was willing to do anything to make sure I created the life I wanted.
My best friends and I catapulted to the top of the popularity food chain following V’s Halloween Costume Party freshman year. It was a lot of work keeping up with the social demands of popularity, but the networking opportunities set me up for future success.
Because I was willing to do whatever it took to secure my future, when V extended an invitation for me to join, I jumped at the chance. I was willing to lie, cheat, and steal to reap the benefits of the elusive secret society. A V membership meant doors opened and opportunities knocked. There was only one line I said I wasn’t willing to cross. But when it came down to it, I wavered.
People always want to know what V stands for. For me, V stands for vicious.
What I did was a betrayal.
It was disloyal.
It was treacherous.
It was necessary.
I’m not the villain in this story. But what I did was vicious.
And that’ll haunt me for the rest of my life.

V IS FOR VICIOUS (THE WOMEN OF V: PART TWO)
EXCERPT

We’d only gotten a few feet away before we passed a crying mummy. “I hate men,” she grumbled as she fell into step with us.
“Amen, sister!” Maureen agreed, wiping her eyes.
“My boyfriend just dumped me because he said he wanted to be single for events like this,” the stranger confessed weepily.
“I lost my virginity tonight to an asshole who left with someone else less than an hour later,” Maureen shared. “I think there’s something wrong with the men on this campus.”
I thought about Easton because he seemed like he was one of the good ones.
And as if the cosmic gods were working against me, I spotted him as soon as we turned the corner to head to the bathroom. He was hugging someone dressed in a tight bodysuit and whispering in her ear. As she leaned back to laugh at whatever he’d said, his eyes locked with mine. I tried to tear my eyes away, but I couldn’t.
Not until she lifted to her toes and planted a kiss on his lips.
I shook my head. “I will never take a man on this campus seriously.” I entered the crowded bathroom with Maureen and our new compatriot. “Focus on you. Be about you. Life is too short to be worried about or crying over a man.”
“You’ve never been in love before, have you?” the stranger asked.
I gave her a look. “Fuck love, get money.”
The makeup stained face of the stranger twisted ruefully. “You say that now…”
Lady, you don’t know me, I thought as I turned my attention to Maureen who was splashing water on her face.
